01

Cover sits on the repair, not the sofa

The leather repair warranty Chicago customers get protects our work, in the place we did it.

A warranty on a repair belongs to the work, not to the whole piece of furniture. Restore a single cushion and that cushion carries the cover; restitch one seam and the cover sits on that seam alone. Everything else keeps aging the way it already was.

It is not a promise that your sofa will stay like new. It is a promise that the repair holds for six months, and that if it fails for a reason that is ours, we return and make it right.

02

Inside the warranty, and outside it

If our own work fails, it is ours to fix. Everything else is not.

  • CoveredFiller or finish lifting away from the repaired area.
  • CoveredColor on the repaired area that shifts or fades under normal indoor use.
  • CoveredStitching we replaced coming loose.
  • CoveredA panel or cushion we installed separating where we sewed or joined it.
  • Not coveredFresh damage after the visit: a new scratch, tear, stain, burn or claw mark.
  • Not coveredDamage from harsh cleaners, solvents or conditioners we did not approve.
  • Not coveredOrdinary wear on parts of the piece we did not repair.
  • Not coveredBreakdown of material we did not treat, including bonded or faux leather around a repair.
  • Not coveredUsing the piece before the finish has cured, or ignoring the aftercare notes.

Bonded and faux leather limit what any repair can promise, so if your piece is made of either, you hear it at the estimate stage.

You need
The paperwork and the visit date

The same term applies to a small scuff and a full panel. If you have lost the paperwork, we still have it: give us the address and roughly when we came.

04

Filing a warranty claim

Two photos and a date. Most claims start there.

  1. Take a daylight photo of the problemNear enough that the texture shows, far enough that we can tell which panel it is. Lamps shift color, and color is often the question.
  2. Photograph the whole pieceStraight on, with nothing cut off, so we can see the repair against everything around it.
  3. Tell us when we did the workA job number from your paperwork helps. If you do not have it, the address and the month are enough.
  4. Email it to usSend everything to office@leatherrestorepro.com and we will reply to arrange a look.
05

How we decide

We look at the piece in person before we answer.

Finish coming loose and finish scrubbed off by a household spray can look identical on a phone screen. So we come and look, in the room, at the whole piece. You then get one of three outcomes, each with its reason.

We redo itWhen our repair is what failed, we fix it again free of charge.
We adjust itWhen the repair has drifted but the leather around it is healthy, we bring it back to match.
It falls outside the coverWe explain why in writing and price it as a new job, so the choice is yours.
06

What keeps you covered

Four habits that protect the repair anyway.

  • Let it cure. The finish is not fully hard when we leave. You get the curing time on the day.
  • Use only the cleaning method we gave you. Household sprays and wipes can strip a topcoat. Ask before using any product.
  • Keep it out of direct sun and off the radiator. A repaired panel by a sunny window or a heat vent changes faster than the rest.
  • Keep other repairers off that spot. When someone else puts their finish over ours, our cover on that area stops.
07

Check the maker’s warranty first

If the furniture is young, the retailer may owe you a fix.

Factory warranties usually stop the moment an outside repairer touches the furniture. If yours is still running, contact the store you bought it from before booking anyone, us included. When the factory cover has expired, or the damage clearly comes from use and not a defect, we tell you that and quote the repair. The FTC has a plain guide to how product warranties work if you want to check yours.

Common questions

Short answers on the leather repair warranty Chicago customers ask about most.

How long is the leather repair warranty in Chicago?
Six months from the day the work is finished, on every Chicago job.
Does it cover the whole sofa?
No. Only the spots we worked on are included. Leather we never touched stays outside the warranty, and a repair cannot turn old hide into new.
The repaired spot looks a different color now. Can I claim?
Yes, if the repaired spot itself has shifted under ordinary indoor use. If the whole piece has faded from sitting in a sunny window, that is the hide aging, which the warranty does not cover.
Is a repair on bonded or faux leather covered?
Our repair is, the material around it is not. Bonded and faux surfaces wear out through the whole layer, and no repair can keep the rest of that panel from peeling.
Can your repair cancel the factory warranty?
Often, yes. Factory cover usually ends when an outside repairer works on the piece, so while it is still running, ask the store you bought it from first.
Not sure it is covered?
