Repair or Replace? We Say Which, and Why

Furniture insurance claim repair Chicago adjusters ask us for starts with one honest answer: can this piece be put right, or is it a total loss?

Repair it when

  • Stains, tide marks, soot film or color loss on the surface
  • A tear, cut or puncture in one panel
  • Seams opened or cushions and foam affected
  • Frame and springs still sound

Replace it when

  • Frame cracked or warped by water
  • Leather split along its stress lines
  • Contamination that cannot be cleaned safely
  • Repair would cost more than the piece is worth

A repair can also cost less than the policyholder's deductible, which is worth knowing before a claim is opened.

Six Losses We See on Leather

Water is the most common, with more on our repair services. Each of these can usually be repaired when the frame is sound.

Furniture Insurance Claim Repair Chicago FAQ

A piece written off without an inspection is often a piece that could have been saved.

    Send a Claim
Can you say whether a piece is repairable before it is written off?

Yes. Each piece gets an inspection and a written repair-or-replace opinion with the reason, so the file shows why it was repaired or replaced.

    Can you work from photos?

Often. Clear wide and close photos are enough for many claims; we inspect in person when the damage needs it.

I am the policyholder. Can I contact you directly?

Yes. Send photos of the damaged furniture and your claim number if you have one. The estimate and photos can go to your adjuster.

    Do you handle business losses?

Yes. Hotels, offices, restaurants and other commercial spaces, including losses with many pieces.

    Is the estimate free?

Yes. Use the form on this page or email the claim details and photos to office@leatherrestorepro.com.

Policyholders with questions about how a claim is being handled can contact the Illinois Department of Insurance.
